Robb Engen

I’m a 40-year-old married father of two young children. Over the past 10 years I’ve gone from taking an amateur interest in personal finance and investing to working toward becoming a full-fledged money expert. In addition to writing this blog, I also have a monthly column at the Toronto Star where my research focuses on budgeting, banking, credit cards, and debt management.

I spent years investing in high MER mutual funds through an employer matching plan at work. When I left that job, I transferred my money to a discount brokerage and learned how to invest on my own. I wish I had some help getting started because I would’ve avoided many mistakes along the way.

A few years later I found out about fee-only planning – unbiased, third-party advice from someone who doesn’t have a conflict of interest and isn’t paid to sell you products. Fee only planners are hard to find in Canada, but I want to help change that.

I receive a lot of email from readers of this blog and of my column at The Star. Many want to know how to apply certain concepts to their own situation. Such advice is nearly impossible to give without knowing a complete financial picture from the individual.

As a fee-only advisor I will work with you to achieve your financial goals by creating a financial plan with actionable steps along the way. The best way to find out if I can help you achieve your goals is to schedule a free consultation where we’ll chat by phone, email, Skype, or FaceTime to uncover your needs.

Remember, I don’t sell any financial products (I’m not licensed to sell investments) and I don’t receive compensation for giving general recommendations.

I’ll do a full review of your financial picture and together we’ll put together and implement a financial plan based on your identified goals. You can contact me anytime by phone or email while you work through your plan. At the end of the year we’ll review the entire process to make sure you’re on the right path.

I specialize in comprehensive financial planning, retirement planning, investment analysis, cash flow optimization, portfolio reviews, and decision consultation.

Contact me today to schedule a free consultation.

    Hi Robb

I’ve read several of your articles on your blog and I think my husband and I can benefit from your expertise.
We are in our early 40s with two young kids. We’d like to know more about investing for our retirement and catching up on our RRSP/TFSA etc.
Hope to hear from you. Thanks.
